When lemon becomes brand
LIMMI, the flagship brand of B&G Srl, was born from a simple yet forward-looking idea: to capture the pure juice of the finest Sicilian lemons in a bottle, preserving their aroma, freshness, and nutritional properties. Over the past thirty years, B&G has grown steadily, reaching a turnover of €17 million in 2023 and expanding its presence to 40 countries worldwide.

The production facility in Perugia hosts processing, storage, and packaging lines for both LIMMI branded products and private label manufacturing, confirming the company’s ability to operate at high quality standards across multiple channels.

PGI Syracuse Lemon Juice: the flagship product
LIMMI’s core product is not-from-concentrate PGI Syracuse lemon juice. The Syracuse PGI lemon grows between the sea and the inland areas of the Syracuse region, in a fertile coastal strip no higher than 210 meters above sea level—an ideal environment for a crop known for its high juice yield and the richness of essential oil glands in the peel.
The LIMMI range is available in both conventional and organic versions and includes Sicilian lemon juice, lime juice, and the premium PGI Syracuse reference.
Formats range from 125 ml (equivalent to 3–4 lemons) to 200 ml (8–10 lemons) and up to 500 ml (18–20 lemons), with larger sizes designed for the Ho.Re.Ca. and food service channels.
One of LIMMI’s most distinctive features is its patented packaging: a capsule inserted in the neck of the bottle contains essential oils extracted from the lemon peel. These are released when the bottle is opened, blending with the juice and recreating the aroma of freshly squeezed lemon—an effect that concentrated juice cannot replicate. The packaging is made from R-PET with 30% recycled plastic, in line with growing environmental sustainability demands in the European market.

Market recognition: Product of the Year 2025
In 2025, LIMMI received a significant market recognition: it was awarded “Product of the Year” in the “Condiments” category, based on the preferences of over 12,000 consumers. 63% of respondents chose LIMMI for its innovation, while 95% of those who tried the products declared themselves highly satisfied.

Among the awarded references were LIMMI PGI Syracuse and LIMMI SWEET—the “sweet-tasting lemon,” obtained by combining PGI Syracuse lemon juice with a natural syrup based on fructose. This product is designed for more versatile use, ranging from functional beverages and smoothies to sports consumption.
A relevant case in the European market
Within the European landscape, the LIMMI case is particularly noteworthy. The brand has successfully transformed an apparently simple product into a recognizable reference, building its positioning on three key pillars: convenience, Italian origin, and consistent quality.
This highlights a fundamental point: lemon juice is not necessarily a commodity. When supported by innovation, brand identity, and production consistency, it can evolve into a value-added product capable of differentiation even in mature and highly competitive markets.
Where the market is heading
Looking ahead, the European market for not-from-concentrate (NFC) lemon juice is expected to evolve along clearly defined directions. On one hand, the premium segment will continue to strengthen, with increasing attention to raw material origin and supply chain transparency. On the other, product innovation will accelerate, with the development of functional blends, new formats, and more sustainable packaging solutions.
Within this context, new variants are emerging that expand the traditional scope of lemon juice usage. Products such as LIMMI SWEET, based on PGI Syracuse lemon juice and fructose, respond to a growing demand for more versatile solutions, capable of extending beyond culinary applications into the beverage sector and wellness-oriented consumption, including sports.
At the same time, raw material volatility will remain a critical factor, making strategic positioning increasingly important for companies operating in the sector.
A clear strategy in an evolving market
The challenge is not simply to be present in the market, but to define how to be present. In this scenario, LIMMI stands out as a compelling case of success: thirty years of production consistency, the use of Italian PGI raw materials, packaging innovation, strong consumer recognition, and the ability to serve both branded and private label channels while maintaining high quality standards.
A trajectory that demonstrates how, even in seemingly simple product categories, the combination of quality, innovation, and strategic vision can generate value and build a distinctive market positioning over time.
